About
Hou Chung-Ying, holds a PhD in Creative Theory from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at National University of Tainan. He studied at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in the United Kingdom, where he received recognition from the British monarchy. In his work, the hand serves as a nuanced symbol of humanity; he uses the hand as a medium to measure, perceive, metaphorically represent, and express the complex and dynamic relationship between humans and the world.
Hou's art focuses on essential issues such as human desire, power, perception, and the cognitive aspects of art. Starting from realistic painting, he integrates traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic thought, creating a diverse range of contemporary art expressions. His works have been exhibited in China, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and are part of collections held by institutions including the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, and the Chimei Museum, etc.
